Songwriting/Recording Camp 2010

For musicians who would like to learn more about writing and recording songs

July 19th-23rd (9Am-12:30PM)
Concert Sat. July 24th 6PM

Clearcut Recording Studios Garfield, NJ

The Songwriting / Recording Camp is designed for musicians between the ages of 13-17 who have some experience playing their instruments and are proficient enough to play basic pop rock songs. However, if you attend as a vocalist/lyricist you do not need to play an instrument. We will also cover the basics of recording at this camp.

Students will be guided through the process of songwriting from their initial idea to the final cut on the CD. Exploring ideas, writing and re-writting, crafting a good melody, coming up with a solid hook, use of chords and instrumentation will all
be addressed. Once the songs are ready, students will be guided through the recording process. Students will also learn about the music business and self promotion and will have the opportunity to copyright their works.

Students will record the songs they've written on the last day of the camp in the studio and will receive a copy of the CD shortly after the camp is completed.
On the Saturday evening following the camp, they will have the opportunity to perform at Mexicali Blues in Teaneck and play on a professional stage with full sound and lighting systems. A DVD of the performance will be available as well.
